Darcova Inc writes... 8/20/2008 10:15:09 AM James Knox, the owner of this company is not one of the most forthcoming people. In my time of doing business with him, he has sold me shotty parts/systems and as a final straw forged my signature with a phone company to help make his company better. As a result of this i can only urge people to not deal business with KBS simply because i do not want anyone else to go thru what i have. Client2 writes... 9/14/2009 10:59:41 AM I am not saying the service wasn't good, it met my expectations. And operating out of his home would be fine if he knew a thing or two about cleanliness. Their house was a mess. It was embarrassing for me to be in there. If you want to run a Biz out of you home, great! Just make sure it is presentable to the customer! This is what I meant by professional environment! Wading through dirty laundry doen't give me a strong impression of a business. And Mike, having worked for James, you must know how difficult it is to speak with him. I had to do a follow up to fix an issue and he was so irritating to speak to. Everything I do is wrong and he is the only person who can fix it, but it will cost me $$$ to do so. He barely let me get a word in. And now I hear he is running for city council! If he treats the city of Billings the way he treats his customers, we are all in trouble! John writes... 6/24/2010 1:17:50 PM Not surprised at all to see negative comments about this business. I patronized KBS's services last year when my wife needed her computer fixed. Mr. Knox spent a grand total of 20 minutes at my place, during which he probably said three sentences to me because he was berating an employee on his phone the majority of the time. He installed a piece of anti-virus software, charged me a hundred bucks, and left without even a "thanks for your business." Well, the anti-virus didn't solve the problem. When I spoke to Mr. Knox about my problem again, he became very defensive and refused to refund my money or remove the software! He did say he would look at the computer again, but it would cost me the same as the first trip. I was very disgusted at how I was treated. Worst customer service I've ever received and that includes Best Buy! I've been steering people away from KBS Computers since then. joahanna writes... 8/27/2010 12:07:43 PM Great business, thorough, fast, inexpensive. thanks KBS EricW writes... 8/29/2010 2:19:57 PM James' employees are what make KBS even remotely tolerable. Anyone who has had to deal with James knows exactly what I am referring to. He is verbally abusive, ignorant, and has absolutely no understanding of customer service. I feel great pity for anyone who even has to listen to him speak. Jason writes... 12/19/2008 3:43:05 PM As a former employee I can just tell you he has problems with paying his employees as well as his vendors. That is from personal experience. I have seen a lot go one that would make me not take a computer there. He works out of his basement and is not a very reputable business. I was there when the Darcova issue happened, and it is the truth. If the animal hospital only knew about the old monitors they got they would not advertise for him James Knox writes... 2/12/2009 3:18:01 PM Darcova purchased a server through us and a phone pbx. They had issue with their ISP who was blocking the VoIP signals. We purchased the unit back and sold it as used to another customer who was looking for a deal. This unit is still working properly. Darcova also had some issues with the Dell server that was covered under warranty. This unit would not have been sold to them had we known the change in network structure they implemented 6 months after the network was set up. They had issues with the server’s power supply and Dells service warranty dropped the ball but it was not our issue. Thought we handled it for them. Mike is a real hot head who attempts to intimidate everyone who does not agree with him. Jason a former employee is just plain lying here. DO not feel this si the best medium to discuss employee issues. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us directly. We have a long list of very happy customers. A list that is currently over 1800 and growing daily. julio writes... 2/12/2009 3:27:18 PM jason has issues and no tissues! KBS is fantastic. anon. writes... 2/18/2009 12:04:27 PM I think it is very interesting how nobody commented on this until yesterday, when the owner did... then, amazingly, "julio" says how wonderful the business is. I think "julio" is actually James. It is pretty bad when the owner of a company goes on to a website and talks sh** about his customers and former employees! Client writes... 2/19/2009 10:30:31 PM KBS is a small time Computer company that is run out of a house in the heights. If you like that sort of enviroment then more power to you. If you like a professional computer company that has top quality service then you may want to go elsewhere. Client2 writes... 3/4/2009 10:22:49 AM When I went to their home to pick up my "repaired" PC, they took me downstairs where I had to walk through their dirty laundry to get to the Office! I thought this was very unprofessional. And I have absolutely nothing against children, but their son was running circles around me dressed only in a diaper. When I hired KBS to fix my PC, they seemed very professional, they came to my home, they were on time and professional, but had to take my computer because there were problems they could not fix at my house. I was told they were taking it to the "shop", not someone's home. I was in shock after picking up my computer. They do need a professional environment to be a professional computer company. old man writes... 7/30/2009 10:05:23 AM James is a great guy who works very hard to provide for his family and his employees. Do you have any idea what a storefront and a 'professional' look costs? Who pays that? The customers do. I'm sorry folks, but that is the best way to go about it. James brings the small town feel of Montana to computers at a very reasonable price. If you wanted the 'professional' look and feel then you would be paying double what KBS charges. I have worked in IT for several years, for several companies. Some were professional, others were not. The most professional ones cost upwards of 200/hour for servicing. Who wants to pay for that? You really want to pay 200/hour so your tech can have an office and wear a nice suit? how about just paying for the service. KBS is better than most. I have seen other shops that look professional use downloaded software they don't have licenses for to make up the cost. Or things like buying refurb computers and peeling the sticker off and selling them as new..... is that what you want? That is what you get at the 'professional' shops in MT, but you can't make it otherwise with a storefront. I'm sorry, Montanans are cheap and absolutely hate to pay for technical services. You have to make up the costs somewhere. old man writes... 7/30/2009 10:18:04 AM oh, and one more thing. Find some MBA to do a cost analysis for you on the professional look. Im sure you will find the ROI on a storefront isn't worth it. Get educated, do the math and learn business n00bs. Mike writes... 8/25/2009 12:09:51 AM KBS is has good and bad points. For Billings with a limited number of choices James Knox is your best choice for computers at this time. Unless you want to pay 3x as much at the "Best" place on the west side that their name has nothing to do with their service. Until someone comes along and builds a storefront and has actual knowledge, your only choice is 661 Garnet ave. -Former Employee Get your Billings business listed.
